Dear Parents & Carers,
As I am sure you are now aware yesterday it was announced that schools in hot spot areas would remain closed for the majority of pupils until the 18th January. Barking and Dagenham has been identified as one of those areas, so as of Tuesday 5th January Thames View Junior School will only be open to those children of critical workers, and pupils identified as vulnerable.
If your work is critical to the COVID-19 response, or you work in one of the critical sectors listed below, and you cannot keep your child safe at home then your children will be prioritised for education provision:
Health and social care
This includes, but is not limited to, doctors, nurses, midwives, paramedics, social workers, care workers, and other frontline health and social care staff including volunte8+ers; the support and specialist staff required to maintain the UK’s health and social care sector; those working as part of the health and social care supply chain, including producers and distributors of medicines and medical and personal protective equipment.
Education and childcare
This includes:
Key public services
This includes:
Local and national government
This only includes those administrative occupations essential to the effective delivery of:
Food and other necessary goods
This includes those involved in food:
Public safety and national security
This includes:
Transport and border
This includes those who will keep the air, water, road and rail passenger and freight transport modes operating during the coronavirus (COVID-19) response and EU transition, including those working on transport systems through which supply chains pass and those constructing or supporting the operation of critical transport and border infrastructure through which supply chains pass.
Utilities, communication and financial services
This includes:
Parents are advised to check with their employer if they are included.
We would ask that parents who believe they fall into the category of key workers contact the school via email as soon as possible and no later than midday tomorrow, Friday 1st January via info@thamesview-j.bardaglea.org.uk, so that we can arrange for your child to continue to attend school. Your email should include a copy of a letter from your employer or Staff ID card confirming your critical worker status.
We will be identifying those pupils who fall into the vulnerable category and will be contacting their parent’s separately. If you believe that your child falls into this category and you have not heard from the school by 9am on 4th January please contact the school via info@thamesview-j.bardaglea.org.uk
I thank you in advance for your continued support during these unprecedented times.
Best Wishes
Mrs R Anthony
