World Book Day - 6th March 2026 - Twisted Tales Theme

We are very excited to let you know that World Book Day will be taking place on Friday 6th March, and we have a magical day planned for the children!

To celebrate our love of reading, we would like to invite all children to come to school dressed as a character from one of their favourite books. There will be a Best Dressed Competition, where one child from each class will be chosen to win a certificate and a small prize.

Throughout the day, the children will be fully immersed in fairy tales… but not quite as we know them! They will be creating their own twisted tales, reimagining familiar stories, and designing their very own book covers. It promises to be a fun, creative, and inspiring day for everyone.

We are really looking forward to celebrating such an important day together and sharing our love of books and storytelling.

Thank you for your continued support, and we can’t wait to see all the wonderful costumes!

Parent and Child Cooking Activity Afternoon

On Wednesday 11th February, we were delighted to welcome parents and carers into school for our Parent and Child Cooking Activity Afternoon. The session gave families the opportunity to step into the kitchen together, with children excused from their usual afternoon lessons so they could take part in this special shared experience. There was a wonderful buzz in the room as families worked side by side, chopping, mixing and frying while learning new cooking skills and enjoying some valuable time together. We even had a visit from the Ofsted Inspector, who wanted to join in too!

During the session, families created Spicy Korean Faux Chicken, packed with flavour, alongside a delicious cheese bread – a crispy fried flatbread that was a big hit with both children and adults. All ingredients and resources were provided, allowing everyone to fully get involved and enjoy the hands-on experience.

It was fantastic to see so many smiles, teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the afternoon. We look forward to welcoming even more families next time – details about our next cooking session will be sent out soon, so keep an eye out and be sure to sign up quickly as spaces are limited!

Jeans for Genes Day -19/09/25

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Exciting News! Jeans for Genes Week is back this September, and it is fast approaching!

Thames View Junior School is fundraising for children & families with genetic conditions. We ask for your support, please donate £1 (or more if you wish) to the cause and make a direct impact on the lives of children with genetic condition.

Why should you donate?
Because every gene, every thread, and every £ counts when it comes to helping those in need. Let’s be the change we want to see in the world!

Your support really does matter.

* Genetic conditions are the biggest killer of children under 14
* It affects 1 in 10 families in the UK
* There are over 3.5 million people in the UK living with a genetic condition
* There are around 7,000 different kinds of genetic conditions, all with very different needs. This creates complexities & many small but vital groups find it difficult to get conventional funding

Jeans for Genes helps to change that.
It raises awareness, consolidates support and distributes funding to community projects at the heart of the issue.

This year’s Jeans for Genes Days will run from Mon 15 – Sun 21 September.

YOUR support is vital and every £1 matters.
There are different ways you can donate:- Check out the donation in the payments tab here on MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) app to contribute!

– You can also donate cash to the school – we will have staff at the gates you can donate to.

Let’s create a ripple effect of positivity and support. Together, we can make a huge difference in the lives of these brave kids and their families.
